Care and Storage of Artworks

Charcoals and Pastels

All charcoals and pastels are sealed with Fixate, but can still be damaged and smudged. They will be shipped in an inexpensive frame for safety in the delivery process, this is not a permanent frame.

When removing and reframing be careful and please wear gloves.
DO NOT touch with your bare hands. Oils and dirt will deposit and cause damage to the piece. DO NOT rub or lay things on them.

Using a professional framer is best, they can matte or backboard the piece for you.  DO NOT leave in direct sunlight or high heat.

DO NOT leave out of frame or out of the glass as it will cause damage and discoloration of the paper.

Paintings

Paintings require care when moving and will take on oils of skin when touched, be careful and wear gloves to avoid all skin deposits.

Do NOT leave in direct sunlight or high heat areas. You may use an UNSCENTED duster, DO NOT WIPE, as this will smear the dirt and oils into the paint and canvas.

Framing should be done by a professional framer. Box frames are preferred for each piece. *if you wish to know a frame color for the piece that will work, here are some tips;  1. Black is always good.  2. Find the least visible color in the piece and use that, it will make the work pop.

Prints and GOLD LEAFING Artworks

Gold Leaf prints will be shipped in an inexpensive shipping frame, you may leave inside this frame or place into another.  BE CAREFUL when removing and placing, the Gold leaf is affixed but is very delicate. It can scratch and may flake off, keep behind frame.  DO NOT BEND OR ROLL.

Prints without Gold Leafing will be shipped rolled in tube. Remove immediately and place in frame. Paper is heavy duty but requires care when moving and will take on oils of skin when touched, be careful and wear gloves to avoid all skin deposits.

Murals

All Murals will be sealed with a clear coat. All murals will be completed with "house paint" and thus will be washable.

Do NOT HEAVY SCRUB - all paints will scrub off if overworked. Try not to use soaps, some are more corrosive than others and will eat paint, including the top coat, over time.

Make sure to draw the wall after cleaning, wet walls will sometimes cause the paints to blister and peel, distort.
